My Dear Sugata
How very kind of you to remember your friends in Dublin. I think of your time with us at The Irish Times with great fondness. I hope you and your family are well, and congratulations on your book. In 2001, the newspaper hit hard times and one-third of the staff had to leave. I chose to go then, and have been slef-employed since then, and getting a good deal of support from my former colleagues in the Times. I had lost your email address and changed my own, and was afraid I had completely lost contact with you. Then I came across your kind reference to Caroline and I, though you owe us little. It was clear to me that you were intelligent, hardworking and respectful of other people, and with those three things going for you, you were bound to succeed. Since I saw you, I have two lovely grandchildren.

With very best wishes and thanks again, Kieran

Hi Sugata,

I'm not sure, but were you with HT in Jaipur? If you are, you may remember a certain student studying at N.I.T, Jaipur at that time. Well, that was me.
Anyway, I read your article online on Outlook about Hindustani music and Dharwad, googled a bit and found your blog. That was a very nice article!

Regards,
Ajay

HI Sugata,

Happened to read about your book and also read some of your thoughts that crossed your mind on the day of your book-launch. My book 'Splendours of royal Mysore--the untold story of the Wodeyars' was launched recently. I could almost completely relate to the 'brain-dead' state of an author on the launch day and the compelling need to make a speech as well !
I must admit i havent yet read the book but given its subject and the fact that i too feel very strongly abt this need to ensure we dont lose all that is so unqiue to us as a state, a community; would certainly pick up a copy and read it !!

PLs do visit my site www.vikramsampath.com in your leisure
